Karl J. Buehler, Compensation Consultant
 Karl
Buehler has over 30 years of corporate and consulting experience
in all areas of compensation, both nationally and internationally,
including base compensation, bonus, incentive, and stock programs.
He has served small entrepreneurial firms, family businesses,
large publicly held national and international companies in manufacturing,
pharmaceuticals, electronics, energy, financial services, banking,
insurance, retail stores, and non-profit organizations.
Karl began his compensation consulting career in 1968 with Hay
Associates, a worldwide management consulting firm. In 1981 he joined
CIGNA Corporation, a diversified international financial services
company with 50,000 employees, as Director of Compensation and Systems.
Over the years his positions included Director of Incentive and
Bonus Programs and Assistant Vice President of Corporate Compensation.
Karl has extensive experience in job analysis and evaluations
(including development of job evaluation systems); development of
salary structures; competitive analysis and compensation positioning;
development of company-wide cash, bonus and stock plans, and function-specific
incentive plans (sales, insurance underwriting and marketing, investment
professionals); development of compensation survey vehicles and
management of total survey cycle (including publishing results);
merger–related compensation activities; and development of
salary and incentive programs for investment professionals in London,
Tokyo, Sydney, and Santiago, Chile.
An honors graduate of The Wharton School of Business and Finance,
University of Pennsylvania, Karl has a degree in Business Administration
and Marketing.
Karl’s work with Laboratory Testing, Inc.,
Hatfield, was highlighted at our May 2007 Family Business Forum.
