MINI-FORUM: Exploring the Best Practices of Outside Directors and Advisory Councils
|
Jack Kreischer Retired founder of Kreischer Miller |
Wednesday, July 15, 2009
7:30 AM - 10:00 AM
Legacy Planning Partners, Plymouth Meeting, PA Directions
The workshop will begin at 8:00 a.m., following a 7:30 a.m. continental breakfast and time of informal conversation.
Over the years family business research has consistently indicated that business families who are successful long-term have three things in common: regular family meetings, a disciplined strategic planning process, and outside directors.
At the request of Members, we will hear perspectives from a variety of outside directors and family business leaders about their experience and questions regarding outside directors. This Mini-Forum will address the objectives, selection process, structure, responsibilities, format, reporting, and anything else participants wish to address regarding this topic. What value do outside directors bring to the business? to the family? What is the difference between a Board and an Advisory Council?
Henry Landes, President of the Family Business Center, will moderate our conversation. Participants include Jack Kreischer, retired founder of Kreischer Miller, and Lee Delp, former CEO of Moyer Packing, each of whom has vast board experience including serving on boards of various Member firms. Also participating will be family businesses who currently have a board with outside directors or would like to learn more about how outside directors can lead to competitive advantage.
We invite you to join in the conversation and share your experiences and questions!
There is no charge for Members to participate in Mini-Forums; pre-registration required.
